Aaliyah Sang on Stage With Shirley Caesar

I am remembering the Christmas in Washington special! In December 1997, Aaliyah and gospel legend Shirley Caesar both performed at the televised holiday event held at the National Building Museum, singing in front of President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton.

At the grand finale of the show, Aaliyah, Shirley Caesar, and all the other guest artists took the stage together to perform "O Come, All Ye Faithful".

Some writers and media news people only remember the scandal and abuse stories about Aaliyah. But Aaliyah was more than that to me. Aaliyah was special, and I’m sure the people she began to sing on stage with knew.

Today, Pastor Shirley Caesar is singing and having conversation with children in her gospel song “We Love Our Children”(also titled "Pastor Shirley Caesar Talks to the Youth (We Love Our Children)"). It is a powerful spoken-word gospel song focusing on guiding the younger generation through societal pressures, crime, and spiritual struggles.

“America my heart is greed. I think about how our country has taken a turn for the worst. Crimes, drugs, ……”

Shirley Caesar’s career began in 1951, when she signed to Federal Records at the age of 12. Throughout her seven decade career, Caesar has often been referred to as the "First Lady of Gospel Music" and "The Queen of Gospel Music"

Marvin Winans Mentions Aaliyah Wanting to do Gospel Album

Starting at 17:44 of the documentary “Aaliyah, Life, and Legacy”, Marvin Winans mentions Aaliyah Wanting to do a gospel album.

Footage of Aaliyah Singing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”

Written by Gail Nobles 3/27/26

Watch the rare footage of Aaliyah singing "Great is thy Faithfulness." I believe Aaliyah would have been a great gospel singer. After watching Aaliyah sing: The Christmas Song (Christmas In Washington, 1997) there’s no way she wouldn’t have became a great gospel singer.

We’ll See Aaliyah Again Sooner Than We Think

Written by: Gail Nobles 3/27/26

Aaliyah’s gone, but we’ll see her again one day—sooner than we think. Look around. We are in a time of war, facing disasters and all sorts of challenges, just as Matthew 24 told us would happen. I don’t think this world will be here much longer; time is running out.

If we want to see Aaliyah again, or any of our loved ones, we need to strive to do our best for God and enter His kingdom. One day soon, I hope we will look up and see Aaliyah once more.

As 1 Thessalonians 4:14 reminds us: "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."

1 Thessalonians 4:16  "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout... and the dead in Christ shall rise first".

I thought of these words as I heard Shirley Caesar singing Sunday’s on the Way. Despite present suffering, despair, or the "Friday" of crucifixion/hardship, resurrection and victory are certain to happen. It’s a song of hope, promising that God's power will turn defeat into victory, because "Sunday is coming".

Aaliyah’s Dream Was Not Taken

 Written by: Gail Nobles 3/27/26

Aaliyah's dream wasn’t taken from her if she was truly a part of God’s plan—and we choose to believe she was. Those who had the privilege of knowing her, and even those who felt her spirit through her music, carry this understanding in their hearts. She continues to inspire so many of us, reminding us to pursue our passions and shine brightly, just as she did.

Aaliyah wanted to sing gospel, and I feel her presence in this gospel song. To all Aaliyah fans, let’s lift our spirits and listen to this song by Kingdom called "Fully Committed."

In my own journey, with every desire and capability, I am completely devoted to Your will and Your path, Jesus. I am ready to make sacrifices to fulfill Your requests. My love for You is eternal; You are everything I need. Though I can never truly repay You for what You've done for me, I offer this tribute as a token of my devotion.

**CHORUS** I dedicate my life, fully devoted to You. I dedicate my life, fully devoted to You.

Let’s come together to honor Aaliyah, celebrating her life and the incredible impact she had on the world.

Jesus and Me

Aaliyah would have eventually sang the gospel I do believe. She probably would have reunited with her Aunt Gladys Knight. Aaliyah wanted to do a gospel album before she passed away. Based on my understanding, she was facing some challenges, which likely contributed to her becoming a more powerful singer. I heard some change in her singing voice. She was getting older and maturing.

I can envision Aaliyah performing a song similar to "Jesus and Me" by the Barnes Family. She was not one to voice her complaints or dwell on her issues. However, her desire to sing and create a gospel album suggests that she must have felt a deep connection in her soul.

How Many Will Be Remembered

A million unsung heroes over there and here at home
Who are sleeping in their graves, their names are unknown
The Lincoln, Kings, and Kennedys will all go down in history
But so will Hitler and little old Al Capone

It takes people, all kind of people to make a world, they say
We’ve got all kinds of people passing through this world today
We’ve got saints, sinners and losers and winners
The good old mes and yous
How many will be remembered? Just a few

How many will be remembered? Just a few
How many will be remembered? Just a few
When they start taking names for the hall of fame
And writing up the who’s who
How many will be remembered? Just a few …

Aaliyah May Have Been Tired, But I Still Saw Some Victory

Before Aaliyah left us, I still saw some victory. I still saw her winning. Why did Aaliyah die the way she did? It looked as if she was about to blow up big in her career. I’ve been hearing rumors that Aaliyah was looking like she was going her own way and leaving people. Was that it? Is that why she’s gone? Was she feared?  Fears, fears; fears. I hope that’s not why she’s gone or was there somebody not treating Aaliyah right and was greedy for big quick cash? If that’s the case, pay up time is coming as of right now as I write because money won’t do any good. If anyone has done Aaliyah like that, they are guilty as Judas who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of Silver. Matt. 26:15.  His outcome was not good. I could say more but I won’t. If anyone lead Aaliyah to her death underhanded, it’s still murder. We reap what we sow whether we believe in the Bible or not. It’s a very true saying and happens every single day.

YouTube

When I think about Aaliyah, I think about the song “Victory” by Yolanda Adams. If Aaliyah had God in her young heart, she had victory all the way to the end though she’s not here. She’s alive in the Lord.  Man can kill the body, but they cannot kill the soul. And if it was murder, the one that did the killing is spiritually dead.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Aaliyah’s Dream - Joel 2:28 I Will Pour Out My Spirit

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

It is said Aaliyah had a recurring dream that she was flying away from her problems. Well, I guess it happened.

I saw Aaliyah in a vision & the Lord told me that the things I see, I do not imagine. Only God knows if Aaliyah is truly dead or alive. If she’s with the Lord, she’s not really dead. The Lord could bring her back. He’s the same Lord that raised Lazarus from the dead. He has told me that his power has not gone away. He told me to trust and believe.

Aaliyah died the same year my mother did. While my mother was dying, God brought her back a little while at the moment I was praying. Though

she is gone, the Lord still reminds me that he can bring her back. We are living in the last days, and I know we have the same Lord that walked this earth before. Only believe because he’s coming soon.

Christ - Higher Than All

Aaliyah’s name means the highest most exalted one - the best. Never forget though that the Lord is higher than all men.

Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Philippians 2:9-11 KJV Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father

Aaliyah Singing Great Is Thy Faithfulness

YouTube

It’s great to know that Aaliyah was thinking of a gospel song. It’s great to hear her voice singing it. It’s a blessing that someone made this recording of Aaliyah singing, Great Is Thy Faithfulness and At Your Best.
