In the past when Whitney was younger, I saw how irritable she got and through shade at Paula Abdul. Not only Paula but Janet Jackson and C+C Music Factory. Well, I could see where Whitney Houston was coming from, but I could also see where her mom was coming from. Cissy Houston who had been in the business for over 30 years told Whitney she could sing and had class and that there were things that she didn’t need. It was the truth. Whitney had something no one else had. She was the best whether they wanted to give her credit or not. That’s me talking now. Cissy Houston told Whitney to stick with what she knew, and she was right. Whitney looked in the camera and told us about the gimmicks and the image that we all know isn’t really true. And I say that we all know that Whitney was doing the real deal - singing. She was the voice.
Now, let’s talk about Aaliyah. She was a rising star while Whitney was still the best. Aaliyah was going to collaborate with Whitney. But the thing that upsets me is they act like there is not enough room for more than one star. Then why do they even bother to have so many singers in the music industry? They had Aretha Franklin then, Patti Labelle, Monica, Destiny’s Child, and so many more. Janet Jackson was number one for what she did, Paula Abdul was number one for what she did, Michael Jackson, Prince, and of course Whitney Houston was number one for what she did. Forget who was the best for a moment out of all the women and think about it. We needed Whitney to be Whitney. Not a million others doing the same thing.
Let’s say Aaliyah were still alive and did collaborate with Whitney. What would have happened to Whitney? Would she have died sooner than she did just so Aaliyah could have been number one altogether? What is really behind the music? There is always only one for everything. What is that dangerous looking game they all have to play? Whose frame of mind is it? It looks and sounds familiar and there is just no end. 🤨 Then after Whitney, let’s say Aaliyah is number one. What would have happened to Aaliyah? They would have used her as the Queen of Damned and got all that they could have gotten out of her, and probably would have messed her mind up in a cult way. Aaliyah was starting to talk like it and told the world about the dark side which I don’t believe was really Aaliyah. She would have been in Egypt alright. I believe with the people surrounding her with R Kelly still on the loose, something dreadful might would have still happened to Aaliyah, and Beyoncé would have taken her spot. 😤 Well NO thank you.
The whole music business ought to be investigated. If they want to continue to be a business, they need to clean it up before the LORD brings it all the way down.
